DAIRYWORLD INTRODUCES FLEXIBLE MILK CONTAINER

Vancouver-based Dairyworld Foods announced on Wednesday their plans to pilot a new lightweight four litre milk container that collapses as milk is used. Made with flexible plastic, the Store 'n Pour Pouch was created in co-operation with Tetra Pak of Aurora, Ont. It was developed at Tetra Pak's German plastics research and development centre in only 18 months and is manufactured at Dairyworld's Vancouver plant. It will be test-marketed throughout the city's Lower Mainland for three months, Dairyworld spokesperson Dan Wong told Adnews yesterday. It will then hopefully be rolled out nationally, he added. The new product is touted as being environment-friendly as well, requiring a lower amount of material and energy in production. The Store 'n Pour Pouch will be advertised throughout the Greater Vancouver region through community newspapers during the pilot phase, commencing Aug.29. A teaser ad will run initially, announcing the "collapse" of Dairyland Milk. A mascot called "Kangamoo", a kangaroo with the black and white spots of a cow, will also be part of the launch. Vancouver agency Bryant, Fulton and Shee was responsible for the campaign, with Campaign Communications, also of Vancouver, helping with the creative side. Vancouver PR firm The Barr and Wilcox Group was also involved.
