Canadian Wheat Board breaks campaign

The Canadian Wheat Board has begun an advertising campaign intended to encourage consumers to oppose federal government plans to dismantle the organization. The campaign includes print, radio, television and online advertising, as well as a website at <http://www.stopthesteamroller.ca>. The creative encourages viewers to send a text message that will result in a letter being sent to members of Parliament expressing support for the board. "We're asking Canadians to help us send a clear message to the Harper government that we will not be steamrolled by their anti-democratic processes," said Allen Oberg, chair of the Canadian Wheat Board. "This campaign is about standing up to a bully government that is acting recklessly. To date, we still have not seen any business case on why the CWB should be eliminated and no plan for its future. No farmers have been consulted and this legislation is against their wishes."
