Haliburton Broadcasting Group buys two southern Ontario radio stations

The CRTC has approved the purchase of two radio stations from Niagara Radio Group by Haliburton Broadcasting Group. The stations in question are CFLZ-FM Niagara Falls and CKEY-FM Fort Erie. Haliburton describes the acquisition as part of its expansion into the southern Ontario market. Haliburton owns 20 radio stations in Ontario, including CKJN Caledonia and CJCS-AM and CHGK-FM in Stratford. "The combination of the Niagara and Stratford properties compliments HBG's southern Ontario growth strategy of targeting the upscale tourism market," said Haliburton president and CEO Christopher Grossman. "With the outstanding local Canadian theatre productions making these two areas so popular here and around the world, HBG will be the premier advertising option to reach the coveted high end consumer."
