Newspaper associations introduce new joint brand

The Canadian Newspaper Association and the Canadian Community Newspapers Association have introduced a new joint brand under the name Newspapers Canada. While the two associations will retain their independent structures, the single name will be used to present a unified image of Canadian newspapers for marketing purposes. The brand includes a logo, the tagline "Trusted. Connected. Targeted," and a website at <http://www.newspaperscanada.ca>. "The two associations have been working together under a co-management agreement for more than two years," said John Hinds, president and CEO of the associations. "Many of the organizations' activities and resources have been combined. As well, many of our initiatives (such as the Freedom of Information Audit) are applicable across all newspapers. The new branding reflects the current industry and its future. It was designed to build off our roots while demonstrating our strength and growth in delivering news across multiple platforms."
