LCBO begins Whisky Soul contest
The Liquor Control Board of Ontario has begun a promotion called the "Show Us Your Whisky Soul Music Video Competition." Musicians can enter the contest by submitting a song and video using set lyrics to a website at <http://www.whiskysoul.com>. Online voting will determine five finalists, while a panel of judges will select the winner. The winner will receive a two-day recording session with a music producer, a meeting with an industry publicist and professional photo shoot. "Whisky is the world's most popular spirit because of its distinctive styles and versatility," said Bob Downey, senior vice-president of sales and marketing at LCBO. "It's a drink that can be sipped as a cocktail, with a little water or enjoyed neat and it's ideal for relaxing with music. We look forward to see how musicians will interpret our Whisky Soul theme in song and video during our contest." The competition is one component of a four-week Whisky Soul promotion now underway at 615 LCBO stores in Ontario. Other components include tasting events and a cocktail recipe booklet, as well as online materials and a free-standing insert. The initiative is in support of 95 whiskies from Canada, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, India, Japan and the US.
