Award show roundup

The Carte Blanche for Creatives Contest announced its winners last week. Art director Joel Arbez and copywriter Saro Ghazarian of Trigger, won the grand prize for the Toronto region with a transit shelter ad for the Calgary Zoo. Art director Simon Touzin and copywriters Marc Fortin and François Sauvé of LG2 won the Montreal region grand prize with a vertical poster for BMW. The winners will receive trips to the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, while their campaigns will run in Toronto and Montreal on media provided by Astral Out-of-Home, which conducted the contest. "We wanted this contest to rally the creative community and, for once, let them choose the winners," said Astral Out-of-Home president Luc Sabbatini. "By making the process open and transparent, the quality of the result depended only on the participants themselves. Seeing the quality, creativity and originality of the finalists' work, we can now say Carte Blanche was a terrific success."
