SHAW TO INTRODUCE DIGITAL CABLE

Shaw Communications of Calgary will launch its digital cable TV service in Calgary in October, and will roll it out to other areas over the next 24 months. Advertising will support the launch. It will use mainly TV and direct mail and possibly print created by In-House Advertising Group of Edmonton. Shaw subscribers will pay about a $10 premium a month above regular cable fees to receive digital services including near video-on-demand, pay-per-view sports and an interactive program guide. The digital service will be available through a set-top box made by U.S.-based General Instruments. Shaw provides cable service to various from B.C. to Ontario.
