KAO MAY NEED CANADIAN AGENCY

Kao Infosystems Company of Plymouth, Massachusetts launched two new inkjet papers last month in North America and may look for a Canadian agency to promote them here later this year, U.S. product manager John Maler told Adnews yesterday. Currently the company is focusing its advertising on the U.S. because that's its biggest market. In addition, Maler says the company is doing well in Canada and may not even need to advertise here. A decision will be made on Canadian advertising in the fall. Maler did say if he was to advertise in Canada, he'd prefer to have a Canadian agency handle it. In the U.S., Kao is in the middle of an agency review. It will decide on an agency in the fall. Advertising was being handled in-house. The two new papers on the market are a glossy coated inkjet paper and an inkjet transparency film. Both products have fast drying times and are smudge resistant. Kao markets diskettes, and is also a software duplicator, CD-ROM replicator and global fulfillment services provider.
