Magazines Canada launches new advertising award program

Toronto-based Magazines Canada has launched a new award program called "Best on Page." The awards will recognize magazine advertising creative in Canada. Winners will be determined via a two-stage judging process. Entrants will first be subjected to online voting by members of the advertising industry, then a judging panel will select the winners from the entrants that garner the most votes. Awards will be distributed in five categories: best full page or double page spread, best fractional or small space ad, best campaign, most innovative use of medium and best of show. The award show will take place in Toronto on April 8. "It's time that Canada's magazine industry has an award program it can call its own to celebrate the great creative magazine work being done in this country," said Gary Garland, executive director of advertising services at Magazines Canada. "The Best on Page Awards will honour today's best and help to set the creative bar at a new level for years to come."
