Lakehead University begins branding campaign

Lakehead University of Thunder Bay, ON has begun a new advertising campaign using the tagline, "I think for myself." The branding initiative seeks to portray the school as a place that encourages students to be innovative and independent thinkers. The creative features graduates who have succeeded in this way, according to Lakehead. The ads feature Michael Rapino, CEO of Live Nation, singer-songwriter Shy-Anne Hovorka and illustrator Duncan Weller. The campaign, which will run until March 2010, makes use of transit, print, online and poster advertising, as well as a website at <http://www.iwillthinkformyself.com>. "The branding campaign is a strategic platform that positions Lakehead as an institution for those who wish their post-secondary education to support their individuality, not force them to conform to the standards of others," said Eleanor Abaya, director of communications at Lakehead. "Lakehead students tend to be individualists, and this is encouraged by the professors Lakehead attracts."
