Representation roundup

Astral Media Radio Sales has signed an advertising representation agreement with Shore 104 FM of Vancouver, which will begin broadcasting on June 1. The privately-owned station will play popular music aimed at adults between the ages of 25 and 54. "The addition of Shore 104 FM to the Astral Vancouver station cluster gives national radio buyers access to a group of stations that covers a broad format spectrum," said Joan Kaminski, vice-president of national sales at Astral. Astral operates the stations Virgin Radio 95.3 and AM 650 in the same market.

UpTrend Media of Toronto has signed an online advertising sales representation agreement with Universal Music Canada in support of its GetMusic.ca website. "As the official site for Universal Music Canada, GetMusic.ca offers an unparalleled reach and competitive advantage, and we are delighted to manage their online advertising initiatives," said UpTrend president Duke McKenzie. UpTrend has also signed a representation agreement with US-based Buzz Media, which operates a number of pop culture websites including Celebuzz, Buzznet, The Superficial, Socialite Life, Stereogum, Idolator and Absolute Punk, among others. The deal covers online advertising for these sites in Canada. "Buzz Media is one of the fastest growing companies on the web that delivers cutting edge music and pop culture content, and we are confident we have the resources and the experience to help Buzz Media  broaden the appeal of its properties to Canadian users," said McKenzie.
