Corus Entertainment conducts shop local campaign

Toronto-based Corus Entertainment has begun a campaign of public service announcements and on-air content intended to encourage consumers to patronize local businesses in their communities. The campaign is underway at 52 Corus radio stations nationally. Stations in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Guelph, Hamilton, Toronto, London and Montreal are running 30- and 60-second ads profiling local businesspeople. Ads in Winnipeg, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Guelph, Hamilton, Kitchener, Toronto, Peterborough and Kingston are encouraging consumers to consider the purchasing of a new vehicle. Other ads consist of positive economic reasons to support local businesses. "Radio has always had such a strong connection with its local community and we plan to utilize the power of our 52 radio stations to showcase some of the local businesses that contribute to the vitality of their community and encourage listeners to support them," said Chris Pandoff, vice-president for Ontario radio at Corus.
