Energy drink maker Red Bull Canada will conduct a promotional event call the "Red Bull Soapbox" in Vancouver on Sept. 7. Approximately 50 teams of four will compete in a race of human-powered vehicles on West 4th Ave. from Vine to Burrard. Teams will be judged by a celebrity panel on speed, creativity and showmanship. The winning team will receive a trip to Montreal to experience a Formula One race. Second prize is a weekend of driving at a race course. Third prize is a day of go-kart racing. A "People's Choice Award" will also be determined by audience text messages on the day of the race. This will be the first time Red Bull has conducted the soapbox race in Canada. Approximately 100 races have taken place in 30 countries since 2000.
