Discover Boating campaign to break next week

The National Marine Manufacturers Association of Chicago will begin an advertising campaign in Canada called "Discover Boating" next week. The national campaign will consist of 30-second television commercials in English and French on Discovery Channel, Outdoor Life Network and Sportsnet, along with 10-second ads on TSN and RDS. The first commercial shows a family moving through a city, waving at various disinterested people. Later they are shown waving from a boat and receiving waves from others in return. The second ad depicts a number of dogs enjoying boat trips. The television component will be supported with online advertising. The campaign directs viewers to a website at DiscoverBoating.ca for more information. The association will also distribute a free DVD called "How to Get Started in Boating." The campaign was developed by Carmichael Lynch of Minneapolis and adapted by Blue Moon Productions of Toronto. "The Discover Boating campaign encourages Canadians to consider a more leisurely and fun-filled lifestyle through recreational boating," says Lindsay Rennie, marketing director for the association. "We're excited to show Canadians how recreational boating connects people like no other activity, allows them to spend time with family and friends and how easily they can get involved in the boating lifestyle."
