Sharp magazine to debut in April

A new Toronto-based firm called Contempo Media will launch a magazine in April called Sharp. The national publication will be a lifestyle magazine aimed at affluent men between the ages of 25 and 54. Five issues will be produced in 2008, after which the magazine will be published bi-monthly. The 100-page magazine will be distributed through 150,000 copies of The Globe and Mail. The content will consist primarily of style, travel, technology and automotive stories. "Compelling design, premium content and targeted circulation are the cornerstones of magazines published by Contempo Media," said John McGouran, publisher of the magazine and co-founder of Contempo. "Our core team has over 50 years of combined expertise, a proven creative vision and a track record of increasing awareness, demand and circulation. We are confident that consumers and advertisers will embrace our products." McGouran, creative director Laurance Yap and editorial director Michael La Fave previously operated automotive magazine Driven.
