Labatt begins Budweiser Superfans campaign

Labatt Breweries of Canada has begun a new campaign for Budweiser called "Superfans." The campaign, created by Downtown Partners of Toronto, consists of three television commercials that are airing during National Football League game broadcasts. Each ad features a real-life football fan. The first ad, called "Jets," is set at a backyard barbeque. The host complains about the jet airplanes that fly over his house. The fan takes this remark to be an insult to the New York Jets football team and argues with the host until the noise from a passing plane drowns out his words. The ad ends with the Budweiser logo and the tagline, "Proud sponsor of the NFL and all its fans." The other two commercials, featuring fans of the Cleveland Browns and the Denver Broncos, will be released later in the fall. "The new campaign celebrates the extreme passion that many NFL fans have for their team," said Rob McCarthy, director of marketing for Budweiser. "This year's campaign is an evolution of last year's 'Confusion' campaign that was very well received. By including the actual signature fan from three cities known for their great fan support, we've added even more reward for the viewer by surprising them with well-known personalities."
