The Real News hires The Hive Strategic Marketing

The Hive Strategic Marketing of Toronto has been appointed the global communications agency of a new enterprise called The Real News. The online service, which will launch in March at <http://www.therealnews.com>, will seek to deliver independently-created journalism to subscribers internationally. The company plans to produce an hour-long television version of its newscast in 2008. The Hive’s first work will focus on raising awareness of the service and attracting subscribers. “The notion of creating an independent perspective on the news, unbeholden to the usual support of government or big corporations, is a long-held journalistic dream that is now possible because of the advent of the Internet and the revolution in mass communications that has occurred with it,” said founder Paul Jay. “In choosing a partner to help get our message out there, we needed a company that really understands the scope, and all the nuance, of the contemporary global communications environment, and we found that in The Hive.” The Real News, which is based in Toronto, is a service of Independent World Television.
