Canadian Association of Food Banks, Kraft Canada begin fundraising campaign

The Canadian Association of Food Banks and Kraft Canada have begun a joint promotion called the “Kraft Hunger Challenge” in an effort to raise $300,000 or more for food banks. From Sept. 5 to 29, Canadians will be asked to donate through the Web at <http://www.cafb-acba.ca>, by mail, by phone or in-person at participating food banks. Kraft will then match the donations. The campaign will take place in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. The initiative will be supported with a full page ad in What’s Cooking magazine as well materials distributed to participating food banks. “Many people don’t think about donating to the food bank in the summer, which creates stress on our food bank reserves during the busy back-to-school season,” said Charles Seiden, executive director of the association. “Hunger is always top-of-mind for us, and the Kraft Hunger Challenge is just one way that we’re working to address it during this crucial period.”
