Skulsky appointed president of CanWest Publications

CanWest MediaWorks of Toronto has appointed Dennis Skulsky to the position of president of CanWest Publications. He will oversee the company's print properties, which include 10 metro dailies, the Lower Mainland Publishing Group, the Vancouver Island community newspaper group, the CanWest News Service, Dose, CanWest Books and the National Post. Skulsky was most recently the president and publisher of the company’s Pacific Newspaper Group, which includes The Vancouver Sun, The Province and the Lower Mainland Publishing Group, as well as the commercial print operation College Printer. He was, at the same time, group publisher for the western region at CanWest MediaWorks, where he oversaw The Vancouver Sun, The Province, The Victoria Times-Colonist, The Calgary Herald, The Edmonton Journal, the Regina Leader-Post, The Saskatoon Star-Phoenix and 12 community newspapers in the Lower Mainland of BC. According to the company, a search is currently underway for a new publisher for the Pacific Newspaper Group.
