Corus introduces do-it-yourself television ads

Calgary-based Corus Custom Networks, a division of Corus Entertainment, has introduced a new service in western Canada that will allow Canadians to design and place television advertising on the Corus TV Listings Channel. The Web-based system represents the first time the channel has been open to individuals selling personal effects. "The TV Listings Channel, which reaches over five million western Canadians, has provided businesses with effective ways to advertise in their local markets," said Tyler Alton, general manager of Corus Custom Networks. "With the introduction of the Create Your Own Ad website, the TV Listings Channel can now extend this service to individuals, offering them an alternative to print-based classified ads." The service is aimed at people seeking to sell vehicles, rent property or promote a small business. Each ad will appear on the channel at least 140 times per week. The service will be promoted with six ads on the channel and direct mail to approximately 160,000 homes and businesses in 41 markets. The website is located at <http://www.coruscustomnetworks.com>.
