Vonage Canada begins first national television campaign

Vonage Canada of Mississauga has begun a national television advertising campaign to promote its Voice Over Internet Protocol service. The consumer campaign, the first of its type for the company, broke on June 27 and will run until Sept. 4. The commercials depict various figures from pop culture reciting familiar phrases that have had the acronym "VoIP" inserted into them. The creative was produced by Brandworks of Toronto. "This is Vonage Canada's first march into the television arena, so we wanted to reach out and touch people with the term 'VoIP' and make it synonymous with the company," said Mike Reneau, account director at Brandworks. "Through enlisting a colourful group of characters and by taking a humorous and edgy approach to the way VoIP is conveyed, we feel viewers will remember Vonage Canada long after they turn off the tube." The campaign will run on Alliance Atlantis specialty channels Life Network, Home and Garden, Food Network, Showcase, History Television, Showcase Action, Showcase Diva, Discovery Health, National Geographic, BBC Canada, BBC Kids and the Independent Film Channel.
