Sony Computer Entertainment Canada has undertaken a traveling promotion in support of its PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable video game systems. During the tour, two branded tractor trailers will visit a number of summer events, including the Molson Indy in Toronto, the Calgary Stampede and Summerfest in Halifax. The trailers contain sampling areas in which attendees at these events can try out the game machines. Concurrently, Sony is running a street-level initiative at shopping malls, movie theatres and during concerts at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto. Promotional workers carrying PlayStation Portable machines tethered to belts will conduct product samplings and distribute information about the product.
In related news, Nintendo has also begun a national tour to promote its game machines. This program, being conducted by Inventa, consists of three promotional workers in a branded Hummer towing a trailer outfitted with video game consoles for public sampling. This tour will also visit various Canadian festivals and events during the summer months.
