Samsung promotes Canadian MP3 player

Samsung Electronics Canada has begun a promotion for a limited edition Canadian MP3 player. The product is a YP-MT6 X player in a red cover with a silver maple leaf on the side. The marketing campaign for the device will run from June 1 to July 15, in order to coincide with Canada Day. The campaign is called "Let's Play Canada." Print ads will run in the Vancouver Sun, Halifax Chronicle Herald, Toronto Metro and Toronto Star. Radio ads will air on Z103 FM in Toronto, The FOX FM in Vancouver and The BEAR FM in Ottawa. Online ads will run on Canada.com, Canoe.ca and Globeandmail.com. Another component of the program is an online contest for purchasers of the player at <http://www.samsung.ca/mp3>, the winner of which will receive a red Mini Cooper. Radio listeners can also win an MP3 player and a home theatre package. "This is the first time that a Samsung MP3 player has been custom designed for the Canadian market," said Andrew Thompson, product marketing manager of the consumer electronics division at Samsung. "This is one of the largest promotions Samsung has ever launched in Canada." Advertising for Samsung is handled in-house.
