Publicis wins Rogers account

Rogers Communications of Toronto has hired Publicis to handle marketing communications for the Rogers Group of Companies. The three year assignment includes brand and advertising strategy and creative for English Canada. "Publicis impressed our entire team," said company president Ted Rogers. "Their entrepreneurial spirit is a wonderful fit with our own culture." Rogers began its review in January. In February, incumbent firm MacLaren McCann Canada withdrew from the process, maintaining that a different direction would better serve the agency in the long term. It is unknown what other agencies participated in the process. Rogers plans to begin another review within several months for an advertising agency to handle French-language creative, national media buying and planning, direct marketing and interactive advertising.
