Vancouver security firm installs theft demonstration billboard

TBWA\Vancouver conducted a billboard campaign for residential security company Black Tower Security Services of Vancouver late last month. The billboard was installed in the west end of the city on Feb. 25 with a collection of rugs, paintings, pillows and cookware hanging in front of the creative. Within two days these items had been removed, revealing copy that read "People Steal." "We had a billboard go up at this same location a few months ago, with giant thumbtacks stuck in it," said Michael Milardo of TBWA\Vancouver. "Overnight, the tacks were stolen, which got us thinking about theft and human nature. With Black Tower, we wanted to actually document people stealing from the billboard, so we hid out across the street with a video camera. Turns out, people steal."
