Best Buy, Toronto Raptors begin March Madness promotion
By Adnews Staff
Electronics retailer Best Buy Canada of Burnaby, BC has begun a joint promotion with the Toronto Raptors basketball team called "March Madness." The initiative is intended to promote the team to Best Buy customers and promote the retailer to basketball fans in the Greater Toronto Area. Raptors player Matt Bonner will appear with the team mascot and a group of dancers at Toronto-area Best Buy stores during the campaign. Promotional workers will also distribute special offers to attendees during Raptors home games. In addition, customers will receive a discount on Raptors tickets at the Air Canada Centre box office if they have a Best Buy receipt for goods worth $50 or more. On March 23, three audience members at the Toronto versus Chicago game will win a Sony home theatre package from Best Buy. "When we both looked at the demographics of our respective customers, we found that there were a lot of similarities, so we decided to develop a reciprocal promotional program that exposes Raptors fans and Best Buy customers to each other's product," said Tom Anselmi, chief operating officer of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment.
