The federal government filed a lawsuit on Friday against a group of Quebec advertising firms involved in its sponsorship program. According to media reports, the suit seeks $39 million from 19 companies, including Groupaction, Lafleur Communications, Everest and Polygone. The suit, filed with the Quebec Superior Court, alleges that these firms billed the government for services that had little or no value. Bureaucrat Chuck Guité and advertising executives Jean Lafleur, Jacques Paradis, Paul Coffin and Jean Brault are also named in the lawsuit.
