Digital Advertising Network begins display upgrade program

Digital Advertising Network of Montreal has begun installing a system of rear-projection video displays in the food courts of Canadian shopping malls. The $1.4 million upgrade to the company's existing display system is intended to improve reliability and remote monitoring. The new equipment is enclosed in "Smoke Boxes" to protect it from the elements of the food court, according to the company. "We are talking about a network that runs across approximately 4,000 miles in an environment of grease, grime and dust for 14 hours per day, seven days a week," said Allan Safran, executive vice-president of the firm. "The improvements made to our monitoring capabilities will ensure that the 8.5 million Canadians visiting mall food courts each week receive powerful and compelling information and entertainment directly in the environment where they are ready to shop." The new system has been in development and testing for the past year. The upgrade is expected to be complete by March. Digital Advertising Network currently has displays in 66 shopping malls nationally.
