TORONTO BRANDING PROJECT CONDUCTS CONSULTATION
By Adnews Staff
The Toronto Branding Project began a seven-week consultation program yesterday intended to gather opinions from the residents of that city to use in the organization's effort to create an image for the city. The project is a joint initiative by Tourism Toronto, the City of Toronto, the Ontario Ministry of Tourism and Recreation and the Toronto City Summit Alliance. The purported brand it will create must "speak to tourism, business investment and the meetings and conventions sectors on a local, national and international level," according to the group. The current consultation phase will consist of one question for the residents of Toronto per week for seven weeks. The first question is, "What is your vision for Toronto? Every great city has great ambitions. What do you want Toronto to be?" Answers will be collected through a Web site at <http://www.wearetoronto.ca>, by promotional workers who will visit city neighbourhoods, and through postcards. The Toronto brand will be implemented sometime in 2005.
