ONTARIO CONSTRUCTION SECRETARIAT CONTINUES UNDERGROUND ECONOMY CAMPAIGN

The Ontario Construction Secretariat has begun a television advertising campaign intended to illustrate "the hidden costs of participating in the underground economy." The 30-second ad, which also ran earlier this year, will air on CBC, CTV and Citytv through November. According to the ad, the taxes lost through the underground economy cost the public and the construction industry, resulting in higher taxes and fewer government services. The commercial was created jointly by the Ontario Construction Secretariat and Television Advertising Services of Toronto. The secretariat represents management and unionized labour in the industrial, commercial and institutional construction business.
