AEROPLAN, ESSO PROMOTE LOYALTY PROGRAM

Aeroplan and Esso have struck a multi-year deal by which Aeroplan members will receive loyalty points with certain purchases at Esso retail outlets. Esso operates 2,100 locations in Canada. Participants will receive one point for each three dollars spent on fuel, car washes or convenience items. Esso's Extra loyalty program will continue separately. Customers will choose which program they they want to participate in at each transaction. The arrangement is being promoted with radio, Web and print advertising, in-flight video ads and in-store materials. Esso's agencies include DDB Canada, Rapp Collins Worldwide and OMD. Aeroplan and Esso will also hold a contest called "Experience the World with Aeroplan and Esso" which will give away two grand prizes of 800,000 Aeroplan points.
