McDonald's Restaurants of Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee have begun a program called the Go Active! Olympic Fitness Challenge which is intended to promote physical activity among students. The program is available to elementary schools in Ontario. Participating schools will receive materials to track the fitness levels of students. Students will be tested in a series of exercises at the beginning of the program, then re-tested in the spring. The first 100 schools that submit program results will receive credits for physical education equipment. "We are committed to helping our youngest customers lead active and balanced lifestyles," said Bill Johnson, president of McDonald's Canada. "The Go Active! Olympic Fitness Challenge is a great example of our commitment and support of the Olympics, local sports teams and grassroots community-based fitness initiatives."
