HITACHI RUNS BIG PICTURE CAMPAIGN

Hitachi Canada of Mississauga is promoting the Ultravision Cineform Series plasma television with print advertising and direct mail. The bilingual campaign was created by Hitachi's agency of record, Toronto-based Publicis Canada. The full-colour print ad ran in The Globe and Mail from Aug. 25 to Sept. 20 and will run in L'Actualité until the end of the month. Called "Blue Glow," the ad depicts the light from the TV coming out of the windows and chimney of a house. The copy reads, "No matter how you look at it, it's plain to see why Hitachi is a world leader in plasma technology." The direct mail piece, which unfolds to the size of a 55" TV screen, was sent to 50,000 high-income households in mid-September.
