NBA, MAPLE LEAF SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT BEGIN JOINT BASKETBALL PROMOTION

The National Basketball Association and Toronto-based Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment have formed a new agreement by which the two organizations will combine their resources to increase the popularity of basketball, the Toronto Raptors and the NBA in Canada. Maple Leaf, which owns the Toronto Raptors, will manage NBA broadcasting deals and marketing rights relating to the Raptors in Canada. The NBA's sponsor marketing and merchandise sales staff will move into Maple Leaf's Toronto office. Also, Peter King has been promoted to general manager of NBA Canada. King was previously director of marketing partnerships for NBA Canada.
