THRIFTY PROVIDES ALL-IN-ONE PRICE

Thrifty Canada is trying to make it easier for people to rent carson their time off. The company is launching its "All-In" Weekend program next week. The offer is an all-inclusive weekend rental package that includes 1,000 free kilometres, collision insurance coverage and taxes. Thrifty is ready to customize the package to customers' needs. Normally a person is quoted a rental price over the phone, but then is hit with extras such as insurace charges in the rental office. When they return car, customers are told they have to shell out for extra kilometres. With the Thrifty deal the first price quoted is the one you pay. National advertising created by Promanad Communications of Toronto will support the program launch. Billboards, radio and print will be used. An information kit containing a video has been sent to dealers. DBA Communications of Toronto is doing public relations. Thrifty decided to craft the weekend offer after doing some market research. "Over and over again, consumers told us that they felt like the car rental industry was trying to nickel and dime them to death," marketing director Robert Swanborough says in a release. The pet peeves were the number of taxes they had to pay, additional cost of collision coverage and unanticipated kilometre charges.
