Volkswagen Canada has received a "most innovative marketing sponsorship" award at the 2003 Business In the Arts Awards for its sponsorship of the Toronto International Film Festival Canadian Short Film Showcase. The program was development by Arnold Worldwide Canada. Blitz Direct, Data and Promotion and Cossette Interactive have received a Canadian Association of Promotional Marketing Agencies Bronze Promo award for the use of interactive media in a promotion for an initiative called "Steal the Stage," created for the MTS Mobility Solo prepaid cellular service. Snap Media and Epitome Pictures received the best interactive and most popular Web site awards at the Gemini Awards last week for the Degrassi.tv Web site. This was the first official year for the interactive category at the annual awards. Founding member of Concerned Children's Advertisers Michael Aymong was awarded the Governor General's Meritorious Service Medal this week. Recipients are recognized for having "brought honour to their community or to Canada through a single achievement or an activity." Aymong will receive the medal at a ceremony at Rideau Hall later this year. The Canadian Marketing Association will present a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award to Judy Elder at its gala on Nov. 14. Elder was chair of the board of directors of the CMA and general manager of Microsoft Canada's Consumer Group at the time of her death on March 28.
