WAL-MART READIES PRIVATE LABEL CREDIT CARD

Wal-Mart Canada of Mississauga and GE Consumer Finance, a unit of General Electric Company, will introduce private-label credit cards for Wal-Mart and Sam's Club stores in Canada this fall. "This new credit-card initiative will give Sam's Club members and Wal-Mart customers in Canada the convenience of a new payment option when shopping in our facilities," said Brian Rudderham, chief financial officer of Wal-Mart Canada. Wal-mart operates approximately 200 stores in Canada. The first Canadian Sam's Club stores will open this month.
