QUEBEC CONTRACTORS ADVISE CONSUMERS TO GET IT IN WRITING

The Association provinciale des constructeurs d'habitations du Québec broke a consumer awareness campaign called "Get It in Writing" yesterday. The goal of the province-wide campaign is to raise awareness of the risks involved with renovation projects and to provide advice on hiring a contractor. A similar campaign by the Canadian Home Builders' Association took place elsewhere in Canada in February. In Quebec, pamphlets will be distributes at participating Rona stores and government offices. Also, campaign spokesperson Yves Mondoux will hold seminars during the current Montreal Fall Home Show, the upcoming Montreal National Home Show and next year's Expo habitat shows in Quebec City, Trois-Rivieres, Sherbrooke and Gatineau. A bilingual Web site at <http://www.hiringacontractor.com> has also been developed as part of the campaign.
