ROYAL BANK PUTS FOUR FIRMS ON SHORTLIST

The Royal Bank of Canada is down to four agencies in the review of its national advertising account: BBDO Canada, J. Walter Thompson, Doner Canada and TBWA\Toronto. Enterprise Creative Selling and Goodgoll Curtis have been eliminated from consideration. The national account is for English-language creative advertising, which was previously it was handled by MacLaren McCann. MacLaren will continue to handle sponsorship marketing, brand design, merchandising design and media buying for the bank. According to Beja Rodeck, senior manager of media and public relations at Royal Bank, briefings with the four final agencies will take place this week. A decision, originally expected in October, is now expected in early November.
