CIBC INTRODUCES NEW LOYALTY CREDIT CARD

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce released a new credit card on Wednesday called the CIBC Aventura Gold Visa. Users of the card can collect points for every dollar charged to it. These points can be redeemed for goods and services in four categories: Aventura Lifestyle, Aventura Airline Travel, Aventura Flexible Travel and conversion of points to Aeroplan miles. A teaser initiative for the card took place on Tuesday. It included a fisherman in a tuxedo outside the Eaton Centre, a couple dining at Nathan Phillips Square and a scuba diver on a Toronto commuter train. "The launch events reflect the unusual nature of the rewards available with the new credit card as well as the scope of the new product," said Ernie Johannson, vice-president of marketing and business development for the CIBC card products division. Additional promotion will include a national marketing campaign of print, radio, and Internet advertising, along with direct mail and special events. Brann Worldwide worked on product design and direct marketing. Publicis and ZenithOptimedia worked on advertising and mass media planning. TheCiti.com handled Web site development. LiQuid handled online advertising. Pareto will handle special events. Polaris Public Relations will handle media relations.
