MAPLE LEAF SELLING DIVISIONS
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Maple Leaf Foods is selling its real estate, fishery and flour milling divisions. The move is being made because the real estate and fishery businesses don't fit in with the company'S core business, and the flour venture is not profitable. Maple Leaf was taken over in April by former McCain Foods co-owner William McCain who was ousted as chairman of McCain after a family feud. Beginning in the fall, Maple Leaf will launch a TV campaign promoting its prepared meats. Advertising for the company is done by Roche Macaulay & Partners Advertising of Toronto.
