Maple Leaf Foods declares National Bacon Month
By Adnews Staff

Maple Leaf Foods of Mississauga has begun a promotion in which the company declares December to be National Bacon Month. The initiative will culminate with a National Bacon Day on Dec. 30. During the month, Maple Leaf Foods will encourage consumers to “celebrate various types of bacon in creative ways during holiday festivities.” To begin the promotion, the company has published a collection of bacon-themed recipes on its website at <https://www.mapleleaf.ca/recipes>. The company also commissioned a survey on the bacon preferences of Canadian consumers.
“Canadians' passion for bacon is unmistakable in our new poll results,” said Janet Riley, vice-president of communications at Maple Leaf Foods. “In fact, 12% of Canadians think bacon should be our national food. A single day seemed insufficient to celebrate all that bacon means to Canada, so we're expanding National Bacon Day into National Bacon Month.”
