Bowes Publishers, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sun Media, has sold its properties in British Columbia to Black Press. The financial details are not known. Included in the sale were the publications Penticton Western, Summerland Review, Revelstoke Times Review, Golden Star and Invermere Valley Echo, as well as a printing plant in Penticton, B.C. "The sale of our operations in British Columbia is part of our continuing strategy to focus on strengthening our geographic clusters in those markets where we are strong, particularly Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan," said Pierre Francoeur, president and chief executive officer of Sun Media. Last week Sun Media sold its Florida Sun operations, consisting of seven weekly publications and a commercial web printing concern.
