SLEEMAN HIRES DOUG AGENCY, EXPANDS DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT WITH DIAGEO

Sleeman Breweries, based in Guelph, ON, has appointed doug agency its new agency in Ontario and Atlantic Canada. Toronto-based doug, incumbent Zig, and two other agencies were invited by the brewer to compete for the account, said Greg Newbrough, director of marketing for Sleeman. Sleeman also uses Montreal-based Diesel in Quebec and Vancouver-based Rethink in western Canada. These accounts were not affected by this review.
In related news, Sleeman has formed a new distribution agreement with Toronto-based Diageo Canada. Diageo's draught and packaged brands Guinness, Kilkenny, Harp and Smithwicks will now be distributed by Sleeman in British Columbia and Quebec. Sleeman aready distributes those beers in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
