TOURISM PROMOTIONS CREATED FOR TORONTO

A number of promotions have been created to attract tourists back to Toronto following the recent outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome. One initiative called "It's Time for a Little T.O." is sponsored by the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership and Mirvish Productions. The package includes a ticket to a performance of The Lion King or Mamma Mia, a ticket to a Toronto Blue Jays baseball game, a three-course meal at a restaurant and an optional one-night stay at a downtown hotel. The package will be sold until June 1.
Air Canada has begun offering special "Canada Loves Toronto" return fares. Until May 14, the company will waive the fuel surcharge and insurance charge on flights to Toronto from all cities served by Air Canada, Air Canada Jazz and Tango.
Jetsgo, Choice Hotels Canada and National Car Rental have created a joint offer called "Let's Go to Toronto." Over the next three weeks, Jetsgo will give away 3,000 free return trips to Toronto-bound travellers from Montreal, Ottawa and New York. Choice Hotels will offer the first night of accommodation free with a minimum two-night stay. National Car Rental will offer one day of free rental for every day purchased. Travellers will also receive a pair of tickets to a Toronto Blue Jays game and a free ride to the CN Tower's observation level with the purchase of one other ticket.
