ONTARIO GOVERNMENT BEGINS WEST NILE VIRUS PUBLIC EDUCATION CAMPAIGN
By Adnews Staff
The Government of Ontario began a public education campaign about the West Nile virus last week. According to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, the goal of the campaign is to ensure that residents of the province have information to protect themselves from the virus. The effort will run from April through October. Ontarians are advised to protect themselves by covering up, using insect repellent and cleaning up areas around the house where mosquitoes, potential carriers of the virus, can breed. The campaign includes television, radio and print advertising, a brochure, tear sheet pads in retail stores and posters. Also, information will be distributed through a Web site at <http://www.healthyontario.com> and through a toll-free telephone number.
