TORSTAR RENAMES INFOMERCIAL CHANNEL

Torstar Media Group Television has changed the name of its 24-hour infomercial channel from Toronto Star TV to SHOPTV Canada. The change went into effect yesterday. According to Torstar, the new name more accurately reflects the business activity of the division today. The channel reaches 750,000 viewers in the Greater Toronto Area. Its advertisers include Scotiabank, Canada Investment and Savings and Tribute TV. The new name, developed internally, is accompanied by new station IDs, music and graphics. A print advertising campaign is also running in Metroland papers, Metro Today and The Toronto Star.
