MAPLE LEAF PROMOTES SOY-BASED DINNERS

Maple Leaf Consumer Foods is promoting a new line of frozen dinners called Nature's Gourmet. The products, which went into distribution earlier this year, consist of single serving entrées made from pasta, herbs, sauces, vegetables and soy protein. The dishes include Lasagna, Spaghetti Bolognese, Fusilli Florentine, Rigatoni Giardino, Fusilli Primavera and Fettuccine Peppered Rose. National television advertising began running late last month. Created by Toronto-based Zig, the ads describe the products as "So Delicious, you won't believe they are made with Soy." Print ads are running in food trade and lifestyle publications. Sampling, coupon distribution and in-store materials are also being used to generate consumer interest. Maple Leaf Consumer Foods is an independent operating company owned by Toronto-based Maple Leaf Foods. Public relations for Maple Leaf are handled by Fleishman-Hillard of Toronto.
