NESTLE RELEASES NEW SMARTIES TELEVISION AD

Advertising for Nestle Canada's Smarties chocolate candy returned to television this week after a five-year hiatus. A new 30-second commercial maintains the brand's "Do you eat the red ones last" theme. In the ad the red Smarties are eaten first. A five-second tag has also been created to promote the Smarties Grab'n'Go cup packaging. The ad, called "Red Ones Last," is running nationally during shows including "Friends," "Will & Grace" and "Survivor." It was created by J. Walter Thompson of Toronto. Smarties were last promoted with television advertising in 1998.
