FORUM MAGAZINE ALTERS NAME, DIRECTION
By Adnews Staff
FORUM Magazine has changed its name to Women's FORUM to reflect a shift in the publication's direction. Published by the Calgary Women's Writing Project Society, the quarterly magazine will seek self-sufficiency and profitability by becoming an "edgy and ubpeat western Canadian magazine that promotes women in the arts, business and home," according to new publisher Ruth Alexander. Alexander comes to the magazine from a marketing background at Ryerson University and McGill University. In the past the magazine has published women's essays, artwork and fiction, particularly that of new writers. Prior to 1995, FORUM was an annual review of southern Alberta's feminist movement. In related news, the CWWP has appointed Donna de Ward president. She will handle the administrative and fundraising activities of the not-for-profit corporation.
